While we love a wedding in a ballroom, hotel, or an industrial space turned venue sometimes you want something more intimate. In cases like that, we like to steer clients in the direction of homes turned wedding venues. They’re usually renovated beautifully, intimate, & sometimes even still family owned! Here’s 7 home wedding venues that top our list in the Atlanta area:
Owned by the Atlanta Woman’s Club, The Wimbish House is a national, state, & city landmark. Are you looking for a home that isn’t southern, but still intimate then look no further than this Victorian-era find. The Wimbish House requires a coordinator for all weddings & events, & we love working at this midtown location!
Located in Historic Norcross this home boasts three separate ceremony options & the ability to host groups as small as ten or as large as three hundred. With an indoor house build in the 1800s, indoor ballroom, & outdoor terrace you can pick & choose for reception as well. Carlyle House comes with vendor recommendations, & you can find more information by reaching out to them.
Do you live in Atlanta already? If so, you’ve likely heard of Swan Coach House. It shares grounds with the Atlanta History Center & is located in Buckhead. There is a restaurant attached & it’s perfect for bridal luncheon’s & rehearsal dinners. If all inclusive is the thing you want, be sure to check out this spot.
The Estate in Atlanta has a unique story – it was originally built in 1797 in Wilkes County, GA but was moved to the city & rebuilt brick by brick & re-opened in 2012. It’s as southern as they come, guests enter through glass double doors & the home turned venue has a new ballroom that’s perfect for any reception.
Atlanta has no shortage of antebellum homes & Carl House fits right into this category. With the feel of a small plantation, with a curved staircase, multiple stories & working fireplaces. With spots for inside & outside ceremonies they’ve got you covered if you’d like options. They’ve won multiple awards & you can read about them on their website.
Little River Farms is family owned & was once a working farm. There’s a pavilion on site, multiple ceremony options & a brand new barn as well. Bar & Catering services are also included with their packages, which is a great perk if you’re wanting to keep everything in house!
If you are you looking for a romantic place to get married, Meadowlark is the spot. There’s ivy, magnolia trees & gardens all around this southern home venue with an English feel to it. You can tour it by appointment only, so make sure to email or call before dropping in to take a look.
Okay, so this one isn’t in Atlanta, but we couldn’t leave it off our list. It’s located between Atlanta & Athens & it’s 400 acres of private property that’s family owned. There is a villa (think Italian mansion) & stables (perfect for a barn reception), plus a vineyard & a private lake. Check it all out here.
Overall, we know that picking your venue is a big deal & your planner can definitely help, if you have one. We’ll be making similar lists to this one so check back for other types of Atlanta venues if you’re in the area, or reach out via our contact link above & we’ll be happy to share more insight!
